Acadia Spring Thaw

Photos taken Sat., March 24, 2007 in Acadia, with our friends Kath and Jer and their dogs Gracie and Tallulah. We walked the carriage road on the western side of Jordan Pond alongside the Tumbledown, over the Deer Brook Bridge to the Chasm Brook Bridge.

My conspicuous absence from many of these pictures is due, in fact, to nothing less than my conspicuous absence from the rest of the family during much of the trip. I struck out on my own! I brought my camera along and endeavored to photograph the Rome, Tuscany, and Venice you couldn't see in books or on the internet--which generally amounts to being a little closer and (perhaps!) a little more intimate to these subjects than usual. I hope you enjoy the pictures and the stories as well.

Here's some more shots, the Alfa they wouldn't let me bring back on the plane, the ancient ruins of the Palatine, high atop Rome and adjacent to the Forum and Coliseum and of course the view leaving St. Peters after being refused an audience with the Pope for the fifth and last time.

More people

...and more people in various locations, Rome, Siena, Florence, and Volterra, a dreamlike otherworldly place on an incredibly hot dry day...
